This 1-year project with support from BUSAC began in November 2017, to address the legislative and regulatory constraints in the RE Act in favour of renewable energy businesses, and initiating a national advocacy activity to promote the development of the RE industry in Ghana.
Key activities undertook include:
- Evidenced-based research analysis and review of key provisions in the RE Act, that identified the gaps and recommended strategies and actions to bridge them;
- Sensitization workshop that brought renewable energy businesses and civil society together to discuss the focus of the action and how to support the process for a successful outcome;
- Media awareness creation of the advocacy issue in different media platforms;
- Stakeholders forum that brought together the several actors in the RE industry to deliberate on key objectives of the project; and
- Post-dialogue meetings with key state actors follow up on some outcomes in the sector.
